This being my first time back in college after a few years of denial, I realize that the decision to go to college is a big one. The cost related to attending trade school, universities, online outlets can be very expensive. In the past i went to schools like tesst college , itt tech, community colleges on the east coast and seemed to get nothing but years of student loan dept, and jobs that were mediocre at best and a pay scale that hovered around the 40,000 range.
Students should never consider getting student loans from high interest rate vendors like SALLIE MAE , because you are entering a dept for life, unless you get a job making enough money to pay it back. Sallie mae will hunt you down until your dead for their money, they don’t care whether you have kids or homeless . The ways of achieving an education has to change. There should be more programs that support the arts, dancing, singing, music production. It seems that the arts have no funding from federal agencies or grants. Your best of getting involved in those programs are fully dependent on you.
Community college is a great way to figure out what you want to do without spending a huge amount of money on education. I think schools like Santa Monica gives students a valid opportunity to achieve your goals while experiencing different fields of study and possible getting a degree or transferring to a university. My outlook on attending school has changed over the years, I realize that it’s who you know in this world and not what schools you attending or degrees that you have. Today many successful entrepeneurs have not gone to college, so this creates a workforce that are where there are because of experience or because someone recommended them. Experience comes from living your life and doing as many different things as possible to bring to the table when you are in a new position. I sure do hope that i find a career in the near future that i will spend the rest of my life doing. I want to wake up thinking that I have a creative career oriented position to go to, not a job that tears away from my soul , and just gives me a below average pay check.
